To 75% of America… grab your ankles and assume your new position in the world.
This is what “conservative” economic policies, George W. Bush, Laissez faire/Austrian economics, de-regulation, and corporatism have brought you to.
Currently, more than 46 million people in the United States on food stamps — more than 15 percent of the population. That’s an increase of 74 percent just since 2007.
And, as we know, the U.S. poverty rate now exceeds 15%, the highest level in three decades!
At the same time, the food stamps program cost doubled to reach $68 billion in 2010 — more than a third of the amount the U.S. government received in corporate income tax last year — which means the program attracted the attention of Republican lawmakers looking for ways to cut the nation’s budget deficit and deliver more misery and degradation of lifestyle for common Americans.
Makes no sense why it’s tolerated, but Americans keep electing representatives who stand opposed to their own personal interests — the disorder must be a fruitful new study of Psychopathology.
